Our Home Learning Blog

Week Beginning 22nd June 2020

22/6/2020

Bees
In the garden this week the Lavender was full of bees!
We found one bee who had been so busy that he was having a rest on the ground.
We gave him some sugar water to make him feel better.
Home learning Ideas
  • When you are out, you could look to see how many different insects you can see.
  • Maybe you could take a photo or draw a picture.
  • What do bees collect from the flowers?
  • What do they make in their hives?

Postcards
We have been thinking about our friends and people that we haven’t seen for a long time, and wrote them postcards to say ‘hello’.

You could write a postcard or a letter to your friend, or someone that you haven’t seen for a while, or maybe draw them a picture.

Story of the Week

Our story this week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle.
When you’ve listened to the story, try to answer some of the questions below.
  • What did the caterpillar pop out from?
  • Can you remember all of the things the caterpillar ate?
  • What did he eat first?
  • What did he eat last?
  • What do you think is a caterpillar’s favourite food?
  • What is the name of the special house the caterpillar made for himself?
  • How long did he stay inside?
  • What did he turn into?
  • See if you can remember the life-cycle from the story and draw a picture of it.

Making Playdough
We made Playdough from plain flour, oil and water.
We added red and green paint and made caterpillars like the one in the story.
If you don’t have Playdough you can make caterpillars from paper or card.
